Tango Trip to Buenos Aires 3 - 17 January 2024: Tango Salon workshop with Andres "Tanguito" Cejas

 We are extremely proud and happy to introduce our first teacher, and our first highlight of the TANGO TRIP TO BUENOS AIRES 3 - 17 JANUARY 2024!

TANGO SALON WORKSHOP 

WITH ANDRES "TANGUITO" CEJAS

     Master of masters, he is one of the top level worldwide referents of Tango Salon style. 

This year 2023, Andres has celebrated his 30 years with Tango, with a big Tango fest in Buenos Aires that reunited the greatest tango teachers and dancers, colleagues and friends,  and old and young milongueros.

Main disciple of the legend Osvaldo Zotto, and responsible to transmit his style to the young generations. Style that was recorded by Zotto and Tanguito in the first ever tango course on video, that became a learning source and inspiration in the beginning of the 90´s for all professional dancers in Argentina and all around the world afterwards.

     Being son of a tango singer, he was introduced professionally to tango very young, and started dancing at age 17. Among his teachers we can mention the old milongueros and two of the greatest's creators in all Tango dance history Antonio Todaro and Pepito Avellaneda.

 Since 1995 he has danced together with Genoveva Fernandez. They worked with the most prestigious tango orchestras, Mariano Mores, Jose Colangelo, Sexteto Mayor.

    It is Impossible to summarize the multiple artists he worked with, the multiple scenes all around the world where he performed, or the many tango schools and Festivals where he was teaching.

      Just as an example of the extremely high quality of his dancing and teaching: In 2017 he got the highest in all types of dances distinction in Argentina, Maria Ruanova prize, by Consejo Argentino de La Danza (Argentine Dance Council) award given to only one dancer every year. As organizer, he created and holds maybe the most prestigious practica in Buenos Aires, De Querusa, that of course we will visit on our trip.

THE PLAN

OUR TRIP IS VERY FLEXIBLE. YOU DECIDE THE ACTIVITIES YOU WANT TO JOIN, following entirely or partially our schedule, depending on interest and own wishes.

•  HOTEL centrally located, close to milongas/practicas/ shops/ with emblematic sites of the city just some minutes walking distance, an area with many transport connections, and close by the subway.
• TANGO PRACTICAS & MILONGAS: we will daily visit the most emblematic milongas and practicas, getting a taste of different styles of dancing and socializing.
• WORKSHOPS about different thematic with internationally well known argentinean teachers.
• Thematic DAILY SIGHTSEEING in town and surroundings (architecture/art/nature/ shopping areas among others) , including tourist places and "hidden" treasures.
• SPANISH CLASSES (OPTIONAL) : 4 Spanish classes, one hour each one, with the essentials to communicate in the city/ milongas. Learn basic vocabulary and tango terminology in an easy way, through conversation.

Tango Trip to Buenos Aires 3 - 17 January 2023: Milonga workshop with Hernan Alvarez Prieto & Natalia Hills + argentinean asado & Milonga

We are EXTREMELY HAPPY to introduce our third highlight in the trip!

This time a whole experience including MILONGA CLASS, ARGENTINEAN ASADO (barbecue) and MILONGA WITH LOCAL DANCERS!

Our hosts will be HERNAN ALVAREZ PRIETO, talented and internationally well known professional tango dancer/ teacher and famous Dj as well, teaching together with the fabulous NATALIA HILLS, a real tango legend of Tango, one of the best female professional dancers and teachers.

We will have approx. 2 hours MILONGA WORKSHOP ( with a break in between) with HERNAN and NATALIA. in a traditional "casa porteña" (house of Bs. As.) and afterwards a real party, as we Argentinians usually organize among friends. An unmissable experience to enjoy not only the tradition of the "asado con amigos" (barbecue party among friends) but also a private milonga night with local dancers under the stars.

HERNAN ALVAREZ PRIETO

       Born in Buenos Aires, and part of the new generation of milongueros, he started dancing in 1996, learning from the old milongueros: Mingo & Ester Pugliese, Portalea, Nito & Elba, los Dispari, Raul Bravo, Carlos & Rosa Perez.
       Besides the dance he developed a career as Tango Dj since 1999 working in the most prestigious milongas ( Canning, La Ideal, El Beso, etc.)
       He worked in international tango festivals and Tango associations in Asia, Europe and USA (Seul, Chicago, Brussels, etc) performing with the most well known orchestras Los Reyes del Tango, Beba Pugliese, La Juan D´Arienzo, Color Tango, Sans Souci.
       His Style combines the old tradition of the milongueros and the young spirit of the new generation, with an impeccable musicality knowledge because of his parallel work as Dj. Improvisation, and adaptation to the dance floor are keys in Hernan style, heritage of his "milonguero" formation.
       Among his dance partners: Stella Misse, Eladia Cordoba and now Natalia Hills.

NATALIA HILLS

      Born in Buenos Aires, Natalia has developed an extraordinary tango career all over the world.
      Her first performance was at 12 years old sharing stage with Juan Carlos Copes, Roberto Goyeneche y Atilio Stampone, at Lola Membrives Theater, Buenos Aires.
      Since then her career developed in both lines, as dancer/ teacher and choreographer.
      She is one original member at the company "Forever Tango" (acclaimed on Broadway and London,and later on in whole Europe and Asia, nominated till Tony awards in 1998)
      Just to mention few of the uncountable spectacles where she took part: “Re-volver” (presented in Toulouse, Madrid y Buenos Aires), shows on TV for NBC, Telemundo, National Geographic; several Casinos in Las Vegas; multiples Theaters in New York, London, Philippines, Germany; Walt Disney in Orlando: Biennale de la Danse in Lyon (France) and uncountable Tango Festivals all over the world.
      As Choreographer, she created her own Company, Tangueros del Sur, in 2009 presenting her first spectacle "Romper el piso" (Break the floor) in New York, on tourne later on to Greece, Israel and Argentina. Other spectacles created by Natalia: Ballroom Spectacular ( 2010 USA); Baila (2012 Argentina): El Tango( 2016 Argentina) ; María de Buenos Aires,dance choreography version, (2018 Greece )

       Among her dance partners : Francisco Forquera, Oscar Mandagaran, Alejandro Aquino, and now Hernan Alvarez Prieto.

I DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER, CAN I JOIN THE TRIP?

• YES! At the workshops we will have support dancers helping. At the milongas we will give you tips to invite and get invited, what works differently in different milongas. In our activities you will meet and get to know local dancers.

I STILL CAN NOT MAKE A DECISION, AND EARLY BIRD ENDS SOON.

• YOU CAN REGISTER AFTERWARDS. We have 3 different registration fee prices, depending on the date of registration. 
• If you can not make it for the early bird discount price, you can still register with normal registration price until 31 september. 
• After 1 October you still can register with a bit more expensive fee depending on availability at the hotel and activities.

I´M NOT AN EXPERIENCED DANCER. CAN I STILL JOIN? WILL I DANCE?

• YES! YOU WILL DANCE. Nothing better than building up experience on the dance floor by dancing in Buenos Aires. When you experience that you will understand what I mean.

I CAN NOT TRAVEL EXACTLY ON THOSE DAYS. WHAT CAN I DO?

• WELCOME TO THE TRIP! You can arrive earlier or later, and leave earlier or stay longer in Buenos Aires. I will book the dates you want at the hotel. 
• I will be in Buenos Aires before and will stay afterwards, so you can count on advice/ support if needed.

I WOULD LIKE MY RELATIVE/FRIEND TO JOIN, BUT HE/SHE IS NOT DANCING TANGO. DOES IT WORKS?

• Non dancing participants are VERY WELCOME. Buenos Aires offers much more than tango. 
• We will have every day sightseeing, special activities that everybody will enjoy. 
• Besides that, count with advice about non tango related activities if you wish/ need it.

WHICH MILONGAS WE WILL VISIT?

• ALL THE MILONGAS YOU HAVE TO KNOW. Some of them, very traditional ones; some of them non-traditional, some new generation milongas, some very picturesque, even milongas from a Festival that will take place in Buenos Aires in the middle of our trip. One reason more to join!

I LIKE TO DO MY OWN AGENDA. DOES IT WORK?

• YES. You will get advice about what you would like to do. You will get all information about meeting points if you just want to join part of the sightseeing/tango activities.

I DO NOT WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN EVERYTHING PLANNED. DOES IT WORK?

• Our trip is very FLEXIBLE. You attend the activities you wish.

I WANT TO ADAPT THE TRIP TO MY BUDGET. HOW TO DO IT?

• YOU DECIDE how much you want to spend. Do you like luxury activities? Buenos Aires has a lot to offer. Do you prefer to save money and book private classes with your favorite teacher instead? Or maybe buy many pairs of tango shoes? 
• You decide how you spend your money there. 
• The fixed costs are the registration fee, the hotel, and the workshops fee.

HOW DOES IT LOOK A DAY IN THIS TRIP?

• After breakfast, we will have a one hour Spanish class with those who want to learn Spanish. 
• Afterwards the daily sightseeing will start, organized by thematic/ neighbourhoods. Some days, lunch will happen in the middle of the sightseeing. 
• In the afternoon we will get time to rest. 
• We will leave the hotel around dinner time in Buenos Aires (later than european time) already prepared to go directly to milonga.
• Some days we will have workshops, they are planned in the afternoon.

        World class Tango teacher and dancer CORINA DE LA ROSA will give us a VALS WORKSHOP and a GYROTONICS CLASS at her own studio.
        Besides being a skillful dancer Corina is a charismatic and highly appreciated pedagogue, one of the referential teachers for the younger generations, and maybe one of the best female vals dancers in the last 30 years.

CORINA DE LA ROSA

       Professional tango dancer, teacher and choreographer, born in Buenos Aires 1970 where she still has her base. After Classical and modern dance formation, she started dancing tango 1995. 

       Worldwide known after many years of teaching/performing all over the world in tango festivals and major theaters, like Carnegie Hall, among the many highlights in her career we can just mention her performances in Broadway with Forever Tango.

      She created her own school and studio in Buenos Aires and continues traveling frequently abroad to USA, Asia and Europe.

       In the last years Corina developed an exhaustive research about body consciousness, and started teaching Gyrotonics and Gyrokinesis, a discipline added to her studio that became an integral formation center for tango dancers.

GYROTONICS

       The Gyrotonics Method is an original and unique movement method that addresses the entire person, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and flexibility, and improving balance, strength and movement efficiency. 

      Using special equipment, each of these circular, wave and spiral movements flows into the next in carefully crafted sequences practiced in a small group.

      It is Impossible to summarize the multiple artists he worked with, the multiple scenes all around the world where he performed, or the many tango schools and Festivals where he was teaching.

      Just as an example of the extremely high quality of his dancing and teaching: In 2017 he got the highest in all types of dances distinction in Argentina, Maria Ruanova prize, by Consejo Argentino de La Danza (Argentine Dance Council) award given to only one dancer every year. As organizer, he created and holds maybe the most prestigious practica in Buenos Aires, De Querusa, that of course we will visit on our trip.

TANGO & SPANISH IN BUENOS AIRES  3 - 17  JANUARY  2020

Traveling on 2nd January. Arriving Buenos Aires 3rd January. Leaving Buenos Aires 17th January.

Welcome to join us in this trip to experience Tango in the city where it was born. An unique opportunity  to do it with a native tango teacher as your guide.  

Get the chance to develop your tango skills and  learn some Spanish (optional), meantime you enjoy 14 days in the capital of tango among friends.

Get amazed of the Argentinean traditions, food and people. . An encounter that you certainly will remember for a long time!

As additional, we plan sightseeing including Buenos Aires city and surroundings, and a traditional Argentinean asado

Buenos Aires does not need presentation.

One of the largest and most populated cities in Latin America, also the most European because of the mix in the immigration from Europe since the foundation..

The city where tango took shape. The city that never sleeps, with a wide offer of different cultural activities in the "los cien barrios porteños" ( or "100 neighborhoods") 

We will focus mainly in tango activities, practicas, milongas and classes, but with time enough to visit its multiple attractions.

THE PLAN

OUR TRIP IS VERY FLEXIBLE. YOU DECIDE WHICH ACTIVITIES YOU WANT TO JOIN !
Our schedule includes a well planned selection of absolute top milongas, sightseeing and activities, that you might follow entirely or partially depending of interest or own wishes.

• HOTEL located in the center of town, close to milongas/practicas/ shops/ with emblematic sites of the city just some minutes walking distance,  an area with many transport connections, and close by the subway. 
• VISITING TANGO PRACTICAS & MILONGAS:  we will visit  every day at least one among the most emblematic milongas and practicas, getting a taste of different styles of dancing and socializing.  
• WORKSHOPS with local teachers with international background.
• SIGHTSEEING in the city and surroundings.
• SPANISH CLASSES if you wish : Four Spanish classes, one hour each one, with the basics to communicate in the city/ milongas,  during the first week. Learn basic vocabulary/ verbs / phrases, and basic tango terminology in an easy way, through conversation,
• OTHER ACTIVITIES
• Visiting Tango shops (shoes and clothes) 
• Argentinean asado (barbecue)  special party, among local tango dancers                      

PRICES

• Price include: Planning for whole schedule (milongas /practicas /sightseeing /activities) Reservation of  the hotel. Coordination of workshops/special classes with teachers. Guidance in town/sightseeing/activities according the schedule.  Spanish classes (depending of the package chosen)  
• Price does not include: Costs for: hotel, flight, meals and argentinean asado, entrance/beverages in milongas, workshops and private classes,  transportation from/to the airports and within the city/surroundings, entrance fee in touristic sites and venues..
• Because of the booking in group of the hotel we got already an extremely good  price in the lodging.
